Charter schools like Collegiate Academy have many tremendous benefits for our students, including small class sizes and a strong sense of community. Parent volunteerism is absolutely critical to allowing us to prioritize teacher student ratio.
At Collegiate Academy, all families (or students in lieu of parents) are required to volunteer a total of 40 hours per year. A wide variety of opportunities are available to fulfill these hours, including clerical tasks such as copying, acting as a room parent, working in a classroom with small groups of students, assisting with school events or field trips, and lending your specialized talents through in-kind donations of IT services, plumbing expertise, and many other areas. Joining the Board of Directors, Foundation or School Improvement committees are also great ways to step up to the plate.
Though we would love to have you in our actual building helping out, parents also have the option of covering their volunteer hours at a rate of $10.00 dollars for every hour of volunteer time, or $400.00 in lieu of their physical volunteering. One of the Collegiate Core Values is "Ownership." Please help us to model that value for our students, as well as your commitment to involvement in their education, by getting involved in our school and fulfilling your volunteer commitment. This is YOUR school.
